1. The families must obey strict rules to avoid discovery. Which rules will be hardest for you to follow? Why? The rule that will be hardest for me to follow will be to be quiet for 11 hours, since they had to make no noise for almost 11 hours so they won't discover them. I think this will be the hardest one for me to keep because when I'm with my family I will be the most loudest one, and just won't stop talking.

2. (a.) In Scene 1, what objects does Mr. Frank find in the secret rooms? The objects that Mr. Frank finds in the secret rooms were a white glove and a scarf, that belonged to Anne and even her diary which Miep gives him.

(b.) How are these objects connected with the rest of the act? These objects are connected with the rest of the act because later on they are used in the act, the glove was part of Anne's dressing in which she used in an occasion, and the Diary was the object that lead us to the act and story of her.

3. (a.) What special meaning does Hanukkah have for the families? The special meaning that Hanukkah has for the families is because it is a Jewish celebration, celebrating re dedication of the holy temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt of the 2nd century before Christ E.


(b.) What do Anne's presents show about her? Anne's presents show that she really cares about her holidays and that she will always keep the traditions no matter what. It also shows that she is not selfish and that she gives everyone a present no matter if she don't like them. For example she gave one to Peter, even though she didn't like him.


(c.) Why do the others act with enthusiasm to their presents? The others act with enthusiasm to their presents because they never thought they will get something that year since they had to be hidden they weren't allow to go outside to buy presents, they were amuse when they saw Anne had presents for them. They also acted with enthusiasm because Anne gave almost all of them what they needed, liked or wanted.

4. "There are no locks that anyone can put on your mind." How does Anne prove that is true?
Anne approves that this statement is true by not listening to others opinion, because even thought the Nazis, Germans and all these people involve in the holocaust made Jews suffer and treated them like garbage she still thought that people were nice and had a nice part and heart on them. Anne didn't care about what other people thought and nobody really changed her mind on how she thought about people, nobody couldn't change her mind and lock it there.

5. What is the historical cause that forces the Franks to go into hiding? The historical cause that forces the Franks to go into hiding is when they emigrated to Holland and Hitler takes power over the land. The Franks were Jewish, and things got worse for Jews, they will kill every single Jew they find and send them to camps were they will be locked up and die, the Franks didn't want to go through this suffering that they decided to take the risk to go into hiding.

(b.) What effects does this situation have on their daily lives? The affect that this situation has on their daily lives is the hope that one day they will be free and thinking every single day how they are risking their lives and in what danger they are when the Nazis find them in hiding.

6. In scene 2, Anne and Peter discuss the stars of David on their clothes.
(a.) What affects do the Nazis intend the wearing of the stars to have on the Jews? The wearing of the star was a way the Nazis recognize who was Jewish and who wasn't, the Nazis will treat anyone who wore that bad because they'd didn't like Jewish people, and also maybe it was symbol the German made them wear to show them that it was their property.

(b.) What background information about the war and the Nazis' treatment of the Jews helps you to link this cause with its intended effects? It helps me link this cause with its intended effect because the Jewish weren't treated fairly and it wasn't fair for them to go hungry and in hiding just because of their race.

7. Reveals Character and Relationship

Anne - Anne gives a present to everyone even thought if she didn't like them. For example she gives one to Peter and she really didn't like him. When Mr. Dussel was going to move in, Anne was willing to give her room up so he could sleep there. This shows that Anne has a good relation ship with everyone and is not a selfish person.
Advances the action of the plot
When the Franks, the Van Daans and Mr. Dussel hear a noise downstairs and know a thief is robbing the house and they make noise accidentally they loose their hope because now someone knows that they are hiding up there.
Develops the conflict
When the thief tricks on them and a a car pulls down the street one day and men voices are heard all over the house they know that they have found them. They give them five minutes to get their stuff and Peter gives Anne a kiss saying goodbye.

8. After Mr. Kraler asks if Jan Dussel can join the Franks and the Van Daans in hiding, what does the dialogue among the characters reveal about their personalities?
The Dialogue reveals that the Van Daans were selfish because they didn't want Mr. Dussel to move in because the food wouldn't be enough and that shows that they only care about themselves and not other persons. The Franks reveal that they really care because they approved Mr. Dussel move in.
